Monday February 6th, 2012 - HMS Lynx Update
Work on The Ship’s Company’s commemorative 1812 vessel HMS Lynx is making great strides. The interior of the vessel is essentially complete, including an innovative steering system running from a ship’s wheel to the outside of the stern. On the moonlit winter evening of February 3, H.M.S. Lynx also emerged briefly from the boatshop to try on her two masts and bowsprit and to check final measurements for rigging. Sails are also now complete and work continues on final rigging and other finishing touches.
We plan to Christen HMS Lynx on Sunday June 10 at the Penetanguishene Town Dock. The vessel will then be very active this summer, participating in a range of War of 1812 Bicentennial and community events.
