Saturday June 23rd, 2012 - HMS BADGER welcomes SS Keewatin
HMS Badger and crew were part of the Homecoming Welcoming Event of the 350’ SS Keewatin as she arrived in Port McNicoll yesterday June 23. Per our advance planning with the Keewatin Event committee, Badger was allowed exclusive access to Port McNicoll Harbour one hour in advance of the Keewatin arrival, so we provided sailpasts and initial cannon salutes to a crowd numbering in the thousands. When Keewatin entered the harbour, Badger provided more cannon salutes to officially welcome her. CTV News Barrie did a great story on this historic event, and it was aired at 6 pm Saturday June 23. In the story is a great shot of Badger in action. In case you missed it, if you google “CTV News” today and hit the “Watch News” tab, you will be able to view the broadcast. The story comes up fairly soon in the sequence. The archive usually stays up 1-2 days after any given date. It was a terrific day and another milestone for The Ship’s Company.
