Friday June 30th, 2017 - HMS Lynx visits the Trent

Happy Canada 150! To celebrate this milestone, the Trent Severn waterway was made avalable free of charge to any vessel to help showcase this historic system. What a great excuse to go on a trip! Lynx Monday the 26th towards Port Severn. The morning saw some good sailing before the afternoon showers. We arrived at The Grill just in time to miss the worst of it.

Day 2 on the Trent. Lynx made a trip on Big Chute! A great day to sail for the most part. Unfortunately we couldn't dodge all the rain. We were able to sail off the dock after the lock!

Day 3 on HMS Lynx ...Penetanguishene to Orillia 2017. We were shuttled from Penetanguishene to Severn Falls then took Lynx through the Swift Rapids Lock and through lock 42, where HMS Lynx is moored for the night. No rain for a change. There were some strong currents. At times we had sails up, motor running and were rowing too.

Day 4 2017 trip on HMS Lynx. We woke up to pouring rain and a marine forcast predicting 2 m waves, wind gusts and thunderstorms. After a meeting we decided not to take HMS Lynx out on Lake Couchiching. Instead we shuttled to Lock 42 and then motored to the public dock in Washago. We trailered the Lynx and took down her masts and headed back to Penetanguishene. The exciting part of the morning was when we negotiated a 22ft clearance bridge and then power line with the Lynx which has a 23.6ft mast. We managed it by heeling and not swamping:) Overall a great adventure! Thanks to Mark for organizing and to all the shuttle drivers that made it possable to sleep in our beds at night. On to new adventures!
